INTERNATIONAL SUMMER COURSE RURAL CULTURAL LANDSCAPE OF TANJUNG BATU Second Workshop on an Adaptation of the Recommendation on Historic Urban Landscape (HUL) in Rural Areas Tanjung Batu, South Sumatra, Indonesia, 11-15 August 2026 UNESCO launched the Recommendation on the Historic Urban Landscape (HUL) in 2011. Inspired by the Recommendation on the HUL, for the second time, we would like to adapt the recommendation to a rural area with Tanjung Batu, South Sumatra, Indonesia, as a showcase. Rural areas have different characteristics and dynamics from urban areas, which is why we would like to examine whether the Recommendation on the HUL can be applied with some adaptation according to local characteristics in rural areas. Indonesia has more than 80 thousand rural areas, and this approach could be beneficial for the exploration and exploitation of their historic potentials.
