WATER, CULTURE AND HERITAGE

On 8 November 2023 I gave an update about Water, Culture, and Heritage of Indonesia in the Amsterdam International Water Week. This is a continuation of my involvement in the effort to promote the subject for several years already. In 2020 I joined a conference in Tokyo and in March 2023 I joined another conference in New York. 

This time I told about the use of the Historic Urban Landscape method for water-based cities of Indonesia, for example Banjarmasin in South of Kalimantan. Second, I updated about an effort to organize a side event during the 2024 World Water Forum in Bali. The side event will focus on water and local wisdom for livelihood.

Bandung, October 2023 The end of 2023 gets closer.  I am thankful for the health, safety, and opportunities that I have this year.  The year started with good walks to the countryside of Austria. Perpaduan antara bangunan lama dan baru selalu menarik perhatian saya karena saya percaya pelestarian pusaka (heritage conservation) haruslah aktual dan menjawab kebutuhan zaman. Jadi tidak semata-mata dan sama sekali bukan untuk nostalgia. Jika memang niat ada banyak cara untuk mempertahankan bangunan lama dan mengkombinasikannya dengan bangunan baru.
